Preparing Learners for What's Next
At ION, we believe every learner should be supported in their most appropriate and least restrictive learning environment. Progress looks different for every child, and our approach recognizes and celebrates meaningful growth at every stage.

Our goal is to build each learner’s academic, functional, social and emotional capacity while thoughtfully preparing them for the next stage of their educational journey.

At ION, we are preparing children not simply for the next classroom, but for greater independence, participation and fulfilment in life.
IONÂ
Institute of Neuroplasticity
Individualized Learning. Meaningful Progress. Greater Independence.
The Institute of Neuroplasticity (ION) at Meridian School provides a specialized educational and therapeutic environment for children with varying disabilities and developmental needs. We recognize that every child learns differently and provide individualized, developmentally appropriate instruction designed around each learner’s strengths, needs and potential.
ION candidates may enter the programme from six (6) years of age and typically graduate at twelve (12). Throughout these formative years, our commitment is to help each child grow academically, develop independence, and strengthen the social and emotional skills needed to thrive.
Our Approach
ION focuses on three core objectives:Â
academic achievement, functional skills and classroom readiness.

Each learner’s programme is tailored to support meaningful development across multiple areas. A typical ION day may include:
-
Functional academics in mathematics, reading, language and writing
-
Foundational and advanced communication and language skills
-
Social interaction and emotional development
-
Executive functioning, memory, attention and self-monitoring
-
Fine and gross motor development
-
Self-help, functional and independence skills
-
Positive behaviour support
-
Physical education, swimming and movement
-
Community-based learning, field trips and enriching activities

Learning at ION extends beyond the classroom. Students are given opportunities to apply what they learn to everyday situations, helping them develop greater confidence, independence and the practical skills needed to navigate their world.
