Academics
The Meridian School is registered with The Ministry of Education. We comply with, and in many instances exceed all standards set forth by the Ministries of Health and Education.
Each class is taught by a professionally trained teacher and has the benefit of a suitable aide. On average, each class consists of sixteen to eighteen (16-18) students, however, under special circumstances may reach a maximum of twenty (20).
Students in Years 3 and 6 participate in the Bahamas Grade Level Assessment Test (GLAT).
Additionally, all students in Rising 5s (Kindergarten) through Grade 6 take the Iowa Test of Basic Skills each year. The ITBS measures the skills and achievement of students from Kindergarten through grade 8.
Developed at the University of Iowa and backed by a tradition of more than 70 years of educational research and test development experience, the ITBS provides an in-depth assessment of students' achievement of important educational objectives.
Tests in Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Information Sources yield reliable and comprehensive information both about the development of students' skills and about their ability to think critically.
The Meridian School believes that every test, goal or effort is an opportunity for our students to highlight their understanding and celebrate their excellence.
