Dear Parents,

Greetings!!!!! This month holds many exciting activities and events for our families.

February 4 th - The Meridian Manta Rays are playing in The BFA Soccer Tournament at C.O.B. at 9:00a.m. We wish them luck and hope to see you out there giving support to our fabulous team!!! Go Manta Rays!!!!

February 14 th - Valentine's Day marks our 100 th Day of School . Traditionally, all over the world, schools have celebrated 100 days of school with activities pertaining to the number 100. Ms Tangerine will be spearheading our ‘100 days of school' event which will include a whole school party and displays from every class on the “100 th Day” theme. Watch out for more information on how you can help.

Our Partner school ‘The Calvert School ' in Baltimore is celebrating 100 years of educational excellence. They are archiving the past 100 years in DVD form. The Meridian School has been asked to contribute to this exciting project, with a focus on local history. We have decided to share our story of Bahamian history using a Junkanoo theme. The children in Grades 5 and 6 will compile a history of, Junkanoo and its role in Bahamian history. If you wish to assist us in any way possible, it would be greatly appreciated.

February 17 th - Sports Day will be held on, 9a.m - 1.p.m, at St. Paul 's Field . It will be a morning of sportsmanship, camaraderie and most importantly, FUN. To those of you who are athletically inclined, it's time to dust off those sprints and run for your child's team as there will be a mom's race and a dad's race. This year, due to popular demand, there will be a teacher's race as well. It's sure to be a lot of fun and we hope to see you out there supporting your child. Sports day team t-shirts are available at $6.00 per child please pay your child's teacher. Adult shirts are also available at a cost of $10.00 each. Please complete the attached form and hand in to your child's teacher if you wish to order adult t-shirts.

February 17 th - School closes for Half term holiday at 1:00 p.m. we return on Monday 27 th . Please drop and collect your child from St. Paul 's field, as this is Sports Day. There will be NO after care or day care available during half term week.

. March 1 st - Third Term fees due invoices to follow.

Please remember the Driveway Rules . There are a few persons who still insist on parking and stopping in the drive through circle during rush hour ( 8.00 – 9.00 a.m. ) and ( 2.30-3.30p.m. ) This is most inconsiderate, as some people need to leave for work. If you need to park, please do so across the street in our car park. Starting this month, we will introduce our Parking Tickets that will be issued to those persons parking ‘illegally' during rush hour. $5 will be charged to your account if you are caught!!!! Please work with us to keep our drive through a safe place for your children. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Please pay regard to our school uniform. We are finding that an increasing number of students are coming to school wearing clothes that are not correct uniform, especially on cooler days. Please be reminded that navy sweaters are to be worn during the cooler seasons. Long navy pants are also acceptable on P.E. days. Those children not wearing correct uniform will be sent home. Our uniform policy can be reviewed at www.unicorn-village.com

Please be advised that after care begins at 3:30 p.m. There seems to be an increasing amount of children left at school beyond 3:30 p.m., whose parents are querying after care charges. If your child's name appears on the after care attendance list, this means that he/she is here beyond 3:30 p.m. Please collect your child(ren) promptly if you do not wish to be billed for after care.

FYI - On Wednesday 1 st February, a car belonging to a parent was broken into during pick up time. The car was parked on the hill opposite the tennis court and a bag was stolen. If you have any information regarding this incident please speak with us in the Welcome Center . In the mean time, be aware of this awful situation, do not leave belongings in your car, and keep an eye out for any unfamiliar faces! The side gates will only be open from 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. and again from 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. The safety of our children is our number one concern.

Kind Regards,

Lisa M. & Lisa G.
