December NEWSLETTER
Season's Greetings!
Thank you so much for your overwhelming support and encouragement at our Christmas Production “ A New World Christmas” . We had a wonderful time preparing your children for their performances. Unfortunately, I suffered a bout of laryngitis and was unable to effectively express my appreciation to the Meridian family. So here goes;
I am exceedingly proud of the children and their ever increasing performing arts skills. It amazes me how well they have adjusted to a non-traditional school environment. It gives me great pleasure to watch academic and social development happening every day. I am happy to contribute to the development of our children into outstanding citizens.
The faculty of The Meridian School are all very special people . I wish to thank them for their commitment to the school and dedication to the children in their charge. It certainly is a pleasure to work with such a fine group of individuals.
Parents, thank you for having faith in the vision of this school . We understand that without your confidence, there would be no Meridian School .
Please be advised that school closes on Wednesday, 21 st December, 2005 at 12 noon . After care will be provided until 6:00 p.m., at a rate of $15. This is class party day. Children may come to school in clothing of their choice in Christmas colors (red white green and/or gold). Please see your class teacher for items to contribute to the party.
Daycare will be provided on Thursday, 22 nd and Friday, 23 rd from 7:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. There will be no daycare between the Christmas and New Year's holidays. School reopens on Wednesday 4 th January, 2006.
If you have not returned your information for the school‘s directory , and you would like to be included, please submit before 21 st December.
In response to numerous requests from parents and students, daily lunch specials will be available when we return from the holidays. In order to receive the lunch specials, orders must be placed at the beginning of the week. We need your cooperation in this regard if the program is to be successful.
Please ensure that your child has the correct uniform as we approach the winter term. Children are to wear navy blue cardigans on cold days.
On Friday past, the teachers acknowledged one child from each grade as young scientist of the year . This award was based on preparation for and participation in our first annual science fair. We are all very proud of all of our students for their outstanding contribution to the science fair. The teachers had a very difficult task selecting only one child per grade. The Young Scientist Awards were given to the following children; Year 1 – Quinn Rai O'brien , Year 2 – Whitney Keith , Year 3 – Katya Saunders , Year 4 - Amari Bethel , Year 5 – Zoe Tokaryk and Year 6 – Joshua Thompson .
I wish you all a very safe and happy Christmas Holiday and New Year.
Kind Regards, Lisa Sawyer McCartney
